How to get more Women on Boards
We are excited to present this event in partnership with Women on Boards, the leading organisation supporting women into Board roles and developing their skills for the Boardroom.
We will be joined by Aileen Richards, the successful Welsh businesswoman who was the first woman to join the WRU board in 2015, hear from the Chair of Women on Boards in Wales, Alison Thorne, and Cymru Women’s Sport Chair, Leigh Robinson, followed by short case studies from Parul Patel (Triathlon Cymru), Anneli MacDonald (Bowls Wales) and Bethan Lewis (Tennis Wales), before having the chance to speak about challenges of ensuring female representation on Boards in Wales. The event’s attendees will also have the option to take up a mentoring opportunity with the Board Members of CWS.

Laura McAllister and Kate Hannon, our Board Member will be discussing the need to accelerate action on leadership in women’s sport with Weightlifter Hannah Powell, Women’s coach, Tricia Sterling and Bangor Lecturer Sophie Harrison on Wednesday 5 March, 2025 at Bangor University.

ArcHER Programme
Cymru Women’s Sport is pleased to be part of Cardiff Metropolitan University’s ArcHER programme, hosting an event on Wednesday 29 January 2025.
The ArcHER programme is transforming the landscape for women in sport, and is dedicated to creating an equitable environment for all females to be physically active. Close to a year on from our launch event, Cymru Women’s Sport will be presenting an overview of our work and strategic intent, with a view to how we Connect, Celebrate and Advocate for Women in Sport in Wales.
The event will feature an opportunity to pose questions to the Board for Cymru Women’s Sport and to discuss our intent and how we aim to go about it. We are keen to meet like minded people who will be able to support our work and spread the message in their networks.

Athlete Journey: Sarah Jones
Join us for an exciting new series of interviews as we talk to female athletes about their careers and experiences in training and competition.
On 7 November we will be joined by Sarah Jones, international Hockey player and two-time Olympian as she speaks to our Board Member and journalist Beth Fisher.
Sign up here to join us online and have your chance to ask Sarah a question about her experiences in international sport for Wales.

Voice and Agency: Securing our places at the top tables of sport
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
