Cardiff Met Uni Reporters Cover Launch

Frayah, Eve, Fernanda and Srujana meet Elliw Gwawr, BBC Wales journalist and trustee of Cymru Women’s Sport during their set-up for the launch.

As part of a broader working relationship with Cardiff Metropolitan University’s School of Sport and Health Sciences, we invited MSc in Sports Broadcasting students to report on the launch of ‘Changing the Game’, our Strategic Plan for 2026 to 2029 which was held at the Welsh Senedd on 6 December 2025.

The brief was to create content to share with our community, highlighting our strategic goals as well as capturing the views of some of the 100 guests who attended from government, business, national governing bodies and community associations as well as athletes and officials.

Frayah Dursley, Eve Pearson, Srujana Deshmukh and Fernanda Maldonado put up their hands within hours of the call, then worked together to plan, interview, film and craft their stories.

Increasing visibility, celebrating success and shining a light on barriers and challenges for girls and women in sport is really important to making change.

Providing real-world storytelling opportunities for the sport broadcasters and journalists of the future helps Cymru Women’s sport now and we’re delighted to share their coverage of the event.
